IBM-NUST-SEECS Workshop on Linux Administration
25 – 29 February 2008

A week long workshop is being arranged at NUST Institute of IT, which has recently established a Linux Competency Center in partnership with IBM Pakistan with the aim of creating a resource pool of Linux and OSS experts for government & non-government organizations. The center provides state-of-the-art hardware and open source software resources of international standard with the focused goal of promoting Linux, the fastest growing operating system and computing platform in the world.

NUST Institute of IT is also a certified Novell Training and Certification partner and IBM Academic Training Partner. At the culmination of the workshop, the participants will be welcome to take the industry coveted Novell Certified Linux Professional (NCLP 10) certification exam.

Workshop Contents

The ‘from-scratch' hands-on workshop will include the following modules:-

• Installing Linux and relevant packages
• Linux Desktop Environment
• Linux Help and Documentation
• File and Directory Management
• Linux Shell and Command Line
• Linux Text Editors
• Manage Users, Groups and Permissions
• File System Administration
• RPM Management
• Network Configuration
• Linux Processes and Services
• GRUB and Runlevel Management
• Backup and Recovery

All participants are required to submit Rs. 10,000/- (Rs 500/- for NUST students) as Registration fee through Bank Draft or Cash. Pay Order should be in favour of "NUST-SEECS Consultancy Fund" Account # 400110004325. The Bank Draft or Pay Order must reach NUST-SEECS Information Office (by hand or through courier) with following address before 17th Feb, 2008.

Note: Limited number of seats available, registration on first-come-first serve basis.

Workshop Fee:
Rs. 500/- (For NUST-SEECS students)
Rs. 10,000/-(For for people from outside NUST-SEECS)
