BEST RESEARCHER IN IT
Group Captain Dr Syed Muhammad Zaidi, currently working as Dean of NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (NUST-SEECS), is a celebrated researcher and practitioner in IT education, and enjoys enviable credentials as a scholar of remarkable vision and commitment. He is credited with developing a novel architecture for NH-PON (NUST Hybrid PON): Dual Ring Hybrid WDM/TDM Passive Optical Access Network with enhanced Quality of Service support. His collaboration with UNCC, USA, seeks to establish at NUST the first of its kind Center for Nanophotonics (CNANOP). In yet another major joint research venture with five premier research groups from universities like Stanford and Caltech, he is leading NUST-SEECS in building a test bed optical infrastructure for Global Lambda Integrated Facility (GLIF) node in Pakistan. He is the recipient of NCR National awards both for IT Excellence and IT Education, as well as the 11 th Pakistan Education Forum's National Education Award. Recently, Charlotte Research Institute (CRI), USA has accorded him the status of “Duke Energy Distinguished Research Visiting Scholar.
