Course description

MAGGIE (http://maggie.niit.edu.pk) has arranged for a refresher course on Statistics. The intention is to allow the research students to refresh their knowledge of statistics which will be applied to their projects (particularly pertaining to trend analysis).

Course contents

• Arithmetic Mean & Weighted Mean
• Moving Averages
• Empirical relation between the mean, median and the mode.
• Relation between the arithmetic, geometric and harmonic means
• Dispersion
• Absolute and relative measures of dispersion
• Mean Deviation
• Standard Deviation and Variance
• Coefficient of variation
• The Empirical Rule
• Measures of Skewness and Kurtosis
• The Concept of Kurtosis
• Moments & Moment Ratios
• Simple Linear Regression and Correlation
• Multiple Linear Regression and Correlation
